Schouw Model 101

A Fairytale Come True

From the Arabian Nights to 101 Dalmatians, model 101 is a welcoming, classic fireplace that looks as though it has stepped straight out of a fairytale. We can already picture it in the castle where Snow White is being held captive, or in a country house from any fairytale.

Shapes

This fireplace owes its distinctive appearance and allure to its contrasting shapes. On the one hand, the uprights are curved, while on the other, the lines of the fireplace are clean and straight. This is one reason why it looks right at home in a more classic interior, while also fitting in beautifully in a sleeker, more modern setting.

Spanish fireplaces

Our fireplaces are made to measure. Each fireplace is unique, both to us and to you. Every fireplace is drawn up individually. We send you the drawing for final approval and then order it for you from Spain, where our craftsmen make the fireplaces. The delivery time for a one-of-a-kind fireplace is still only four weeks on average!

Unique natural stone

A natural stone fireplace is unique. You bring a piece of life, a piece of the earth into your home. No two natural stone fireplaces are alike, because every piece of rock is different. In our showroom, we have a range of fireplaces on display in as wide a variety of natural stones as possible. We supply fireplaces and hearth slabs in no fewer than 32 different types of natural stone, from extremely hard marble-like varieties to French limestone.

Various finishes for a natural stone fireplace

Depending on the type of stone you choose for a modern or classic fireplace, various finishes are available. You can opt for a honed fireplace with a smooth, matt finish, or choose a shiny, polished finish. For a truly distinctive effect, you can have your new fireplace sandblasted. This removes the softer areas of the stone.

Belgian bluestone

We divide natural stone into several grades. Belgian bluestone is in the highest grade, making it one of the more expensive and exclusive types. It is widely used, and this particular type of stone is available with various finishes, including polished, lightly or deeply honed, lightly or coarsely sanded, and sandblasted.

Protecting a fireplace

Natural stone is always porous. Naturally, polished marble is less vulnerable than limestone. We recommend treating the fireplace with an impregnating sealer. If you wish, we can supply a colourless sealer with your fireplace. If you have your new fireplace installed and would like it to have a deeper or darker colour, we can also supply a sealer, optionally with a colour enhancer.

You can purchase a hearth slab and tiled wall in the same type of stone as the fireplace. The different types of stone are available in a range of price brackets.
